Open-source multi-agent framework, formerly AutoGen, plus an AgentOS platform for coordinating and deploying teams of AI agents.
Tuff
Open-source Rust CLI that installs, tracks, diffs and governs agent skills, MCP servers, hooks and policies across coding agents.
What is Tuff?
Tuff is an open-source command-line tool, written in Rust, that treats the things a coding agent depends on as managed project assets. Skills, tools, MCP servers, hooks and policies live as files in your repository, and Tuff records where each came from, which version is installed and whether anyone has edited it since. You write a capability once in a tuff.toml manifest and Tuff emits it in the layout each agent reads, including Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and OpenCode, with a single tuff.lock file committed to the repo. Commands such as tuff add, diff and update give you drift detection and three-way merge updates, and tuff check can fail a CI run when tracked files no longer match the baseline. Teams can bundle capabilities into a versioned, digest-pinned pack and publish it through an OCI registry, then view every project's setup in Tuff Console, which you host yourself. Tuff is free to install with uv, brew, pip or cargo, and the site lists no paid plans.
Use cases
- Share agent skills across repositories
- Detect drift in tracked agent files
- Wire one MCP server into every agent
- Fail CI when agent setup changes
- Package capabilities as a versioned pack
- Audit what every agent project runs
Who it's for
Why use Tuff
- Agent skills stop being copied by hand between projects, because each install has a recorded source and version.
- Edits to installed files show up as drift instead of silent forks, which makes reviews easier.
- One declaration reaches several coding agents, so a skill built for one harness is not stranded there.
- Everything lives in your repo with a lockfile, so the whole team shares the same setup without a hosted service.
- CI checks catch unexpected changes before an agent ships.
Tuff features
- Manages skills, tools, MCP servers, hooks and policies
- Write once in tuff.toml and emit per-harness files
- tuff.lock records source, version and baseline
- Drift detection and baseline diffs with tuff diff
- Three-way merge updates for git-sourced capabilities
- tuff check exits 1 on drift, with JSON output for CI
- Install from local folders, git, OCI registries or the MCP catalog
- Packs bundle capabilities into a digest-pinned .tuffpack artifact
- Self-hosted Tuff Console for org-wide reporting
- Project scope overrides global scope
Tuff integrations
How to get started with Tuff
- Install the CLI with uv, brew, pip, cargo or the install script, then run tuff init in your repository.
- Create a capability, or add an existing one from a local folder, a git repo, an OCI registry or the MCP catalog.
- Tuff writes it in each registered harness's format and records the source and baseline in tuff.lock.
- Use tuff diff, tuff update and tuff check to review edits, merge upstream changes and gate CI.
- Optionally build a pack, publish it, and publish CI reports to a self-hosted Tuff Console.
Tuff limitations
- Policy rules are a preview and are not enforced by every harness yet
- Tuff Console runs on your own server, so you operate it yourself
- Command-line only, with no hosted service
Tuff pricing
Tuff is open source, so you can use and self-host it for free.
Prices can change and may vary by country or exclude tax. Check the official pricing page.

Tuff FAQ
Is Tuff free?
The site presents Tuff as open source and lists no paid plans. You install it with uv, brew, pip, cargo or a script, and Tuff Console is run on your own server.
Which coding agents does Tuff work with?
It works with Codex, Claude Code, Cursor and GitHub Copilot, and with any harness that follows the open Agents standard, such as OpenCode, Gemini CLI, Windsurf, Amp, Goose and JetBrains Junie through the shared .agents folder.
What does Tuff check in CI?
tuff check exits 1 when tracked capabilities have drifted, files are missing or state is invalid. Adding --json gives machine-readable output, and the CLI reference includes a copy-paste GitHub Actions workflow.
Does Tuff have a hosted service or API?
Tuff has no hosted service. State sits in a tuff.lock file in your repo, and Tuff Console, the dashboard for org-wide reporting, is self-hosted. Reports are published from CI, with GitHub Actions needing no secret and other CI using an API key.
What is a Tuff pack?
A pack is a versioned .tuffpack artifact that bundles several skills, tools, hooks and MCP servers. You can verify it, publish it through an OCI registry, pin it by digest and extract it into an agent runtime.
What are alternatives to Tuff?
Teams comparing options often look at Composio, the Agent Skills ecosystem, Google's agents CLI and Gram, though these cover different parts of managing agent tooling.
