What is Warp?

Warp is a terminal that has grown into an agent platform for software teams. The Warp terminal includes the Warp Agent, which can use models from OpenAI, Anthropic, z.ai and others, and lets you pick a different model per task, run tasks in parallel, or bring your own API keys. Cloud agents run work outside your laptop, can use any harness in beta, and can be mentioned from Slack, Linear and GitHub to investigate bugs or open pull requests. Warp Drive stores shared notebooks and workflows, and session sharing lets teammates watch or guide a run. A newer Warp Factories product defines software factories as code, with usage-based execution, evals and automations. The company says it is SOC 2 compliant and has zero data retention agreements with its model providers. Warp has a Free plan at $0/month, then Build, Max and Business plans with monthly agent usage included, and a custom Enterprise plan; the pricing page text does not show the Build, Max or Business subscription prices.

Use cases

  • Run commands with an AI terminal agent
  • Delegate bug fixes to cloud agents
  • Open pull requests from Slack or Linear
  • Share terminal sessions with teammates
  • Store team workflows in Warp Drive
  • Route work to different AI models
  • Run agents on self-hosted infrastructure
  • Define software factories as code

Who it's for

  • Software developers
  • Engineering teams
  • Platform teams

Why use Warp

  • The agent works inside the terminal where commands already run, so there is less switching between tools.
  • You can choose a model per task or use your own keys instead of relying on a single provider.
  • Cloud agents let teams hand off bug investigation and pull requests from Slack, Linear or GitHub.
  • Autonomy settings let you approve every step or allow full autonomy, at individual or enterprise level.
  • Shared notebooks, workflows and live sessions keep team knowledge in one place.
