What is Arize AX?

Arize AX is an AI engineering platform for watching and improving AI agents and LLM applications. You instrument your app, using OpenTelemetry-compatible tracing and pre-built integrations for more than 30 providers and frameworks, and Arize records inputs, outputs, tools, tokens, latency and cost. A feature called Signal periodically scans your traces, clusters repeat failures into a ranked list of issues, and attaches the pattern, the affected traces and a suggested fix to each. You then measure quality with online and offline evals, LLM judges, agent judges or code-based evaluators, and test changes in playgrounds and experiments before shipping. Human annotations, labeling queues, prompt versioning and trace replay are included. Plans are AX Free at $0 with 25k trace spans a month, AX Pro at $50 per month with 50k spans, and AX Enterprise with custom limits, self-hosting, SSO and audit logs. All plans have unlimited users and evals. Arize also offers Phoenix, an open-source, local-first tracing and evaluation tool.

Use cases

  • Trace LLM agent runs in production
  • Detect recurring agent failures automatically
  • Evaluate agents with LLM-as-a-judge
  • Compare prompt and model changes in experiments
  • Track token, latency and cost per run
  • Collect human annotations on traces
  • Evaluate multi-turn conversations

Who it's for

  • AI engineers
  • ML platform teams
  • Agent developers
  • AI-native startups

Why use Arize AX

  • Signal surfaces recurring problems from your traces, so you do not have to read them by hand.
  • Unlimited users and evals on every plan mean the team can grow without per-seat or per-eval charges.
  • Experiments let you check that a prompt, model or agent change actually improves results before release.
  • OpenTelemetry compatibility fits into existing instrumentation.
  • The open-source Phoenix tool offers a local-first path before you move to AX.

Arize AX features

  • OpenTelemetry-compliant tracing with session support
  • Signal issue detection that groups failures from traces
  • Online and offline evals with unlimited volume
  • Trace evals for agent trajectories and session evals for conversations
  • Agent-as-a-judge and LLM-as-a-judge evaluators
  • Playgrounds, datasets and experiments
  • Prompt serving, versioning and Prompt Learning optimization
  • Multi-modal tracing and evaluation for image, voice and PDF
  • Custom dashboards, metrics and monitors
  • Human annotations and labeling queues

  • OpenTelemetry
  • Anthropic
  • GitHub
  • Claude Code

How to get started with Arize AX

  1. Sign up for AX Free and instrument your agent with auto-instrumentation or OpenTelemetry to capture traces.
  2. Enable Signal on a tracing project so it reviews new traces every 6 hours and files recurring issues.
  3. Open an issue to see the pattern, evidence traces and proposed fix, then create an evaluator from it.
  4. Run online and offline evals, annotate traces, and test fixes in playgrounds and experiments.
  5. Upgrade to Pro or Enterprise as span volume, retention or security needs grow.

Arize AX limitations

  • Free allows 25k spans a month with 15-day retention and 1 GB of ingestion
  • Pro allows 50k spans a month with 30-day retention and 10 GB of ingestion
  • Signal is limited to 10 issues a month on Free and 25 on Pro
  • Managed agents, self-hosting, SSO and audit logs are Enterprise only
