Keploy

Open-source testing agent that records real API traffic with eBPF and turns it into regression tests and dependency mocks without code changes.

What is Keploy?

Keploy is an open-source, AI-assisted testing platform that generates API tests, dependency mocks and sandboxes from real application traffic. It uses eBPF at the Linux kernel level to capture incoming requests and outgoing calls to databases, message queues and third-party APIs, so you do not add SDKs or change application code. The recordings become editable YAML tests that replay in CI against new builds with the dependencies mocked, and AI filters noisy fields such as timestamps and IDs to cut flaky failures. It can also generate tests from OpenAPI or Postman specs, produce unit tests through VS Code and JetBrains plugins, and run contract and load testing on paid plans. The Playground tier is free forever, Pro costs $19 per user per month plus usage, and Enterprise adds Kubernetes capture, SSO, compliance and private deployments.

Use cases

  • Generate API tests from recorded traffic
  • Generate tests from OpenAPI or Postman specs
  • Mock databases and third-party APIs automatically
  • Run regression tests in CI pipelines
  • Generate unit tests inside the IDE
  • Validate behavior before and after a migration

Who it's for

  • Backend developers
  • QA engineers
  • DevOps teams
  • Platform teams

Why use Keploy

  • Tests come from real traffic, so you spend less time writing and updating them by hand.
  • Mocks are generated from recorded calls, so tests run without external staging environments.
  • No code changes or SDKs are needed because capture happens at the network layer.
  • The core is open source and a free Playground tier lets you try it before paying.
  • Tests are human-editable YAML that fit existing CI pipelines.

  5. Review failures, let AI handle noisy fields, and add contract or load tests on paid plans.

Keploy limitations

  • Playground allows 30 test suite generations, 100 test runs and 5 AI credits per month
  • Pro adds usage charges beyond the included $19 credit
  • Kubernetes recording, production capture and SSO are Enterprise only
