CodeGeeX

AI coding assistant from Zhipu for VS Code and JetBrains with completion, chat, tests, translation and private enterprise deployment.

What is CodeGeeX?

CodeGeeX is an AI programming assistant from Beijing Zhipu Huazhang that plugs into VS Code and the JetBrains family of IDEs. It completes code from the cursor position or from a natural-language comment, answers technical questions in a chat panel with selected code as context, and offers slash commands such as /explain, /comment, /fixbug, /tests and /optimize. It also translates code between languages and writes comments. The enterprise edition documented in the version 4.8 manual adds retrieval-augmented generation, an enterprise knowledge base, repository-level completion, fine-tuning on a company's own code, an admin console and on-premises deployment, with third-party tool calls such as GitLab and Gitee. The manual says over 300 languages are supported, with about 30 mainstream ones working best. A separate campus edition offers an AI teaching assistant for programming courses. Plan prices are not shown on the pages we reviewed, and the documentation is mostly in Chinese.
