What is Cody?

Cody is an AI coding assistant from Sourcegraph that answers questions about code, writes and edits it, and helps fix bugs while drawing on context from local and remote repositories. It uses Sourcegraph's search to find relevant APIs, symbols and usage patterns across a large codebase, and you can add files, symbols or repositories to a chat with an at-sign mention. Besides chat, it offers auto-edit suggestions based on your cursor and recent changes, reusable prompts that teams can share, and context filters that exclude chosen repositories. Cody works in VS Code, JetBrains IDEs, Visual Studio (experimental), the Sourcegraph web app and a command-line tool, and connects to code hosts such as GitHub and GitLab. Administrators get role-based access, usage analytics and optional guardrails for public code, although guardrails are now deprecated. Cody is sold as part of Sourcegraph Enterprise, which the pricing page lists from $16K as a minimum annual contract, with credits for AI features included.
