What is Rasa?

Rasa is a platform for teams that build customer-facing conversational AI agents and want to run them on systems they control. Rasa Pro is the developer interface, built on CALM, an approach that pairs large language models with defined business logic written as Flows. It can be used alone or together with Rasa Studio, a no-code interface. The platform covers building in code or a visual builder, end-to-end testing, simulated conversations, version comparison before release, and analytics on real conversations. Deployment is self-managed, on-premise or in a private cloud, with Kubernetes support, role-based access control and Vault-based secrets management. A newer orchestrator called Mantle adds reusable skills, memory and guardrails, and agents can call APIs, MCP servers and Python scripts. On the pricing page, the Free Developer Edition allows one bot per company with limited monthly conversations, and the Enterprise plan is quoted by Rasa.

Use cases

  • Build customer support agents
  • Automate order and refund handling
  • Run voice assistants for banking
  • Test agents with simulated conversations
  • Compare agent versions before release
  • Deploy conversational AI on-premise
  • Analyze real conversations for fixes

Who it's for

  • Conversational AI developers
  • Product teams
  • Enterprises

Why use Rasa

  • Agents, logic and conversation data stay in infrastructure you operate, which simplifies security reviews in regulated settings.
  • Simulated conversations and end-to-end tests catch failures before customers see them.
  • Engineers can work in code while other team members use Studio or the visual builder.
  • Reusable skills let different teams own their domain and share it across agents under central governance.
  • A free license that works locally or in production lets developers try the platform without a sales call.
