What is Lumana?

Lumana is a video security platform driven by AI that turns existing IP cameras into monitored, searchable sources of events. A Lumana Core device sits on your network, records footage, replaces a traditional DVR or NVR and runs the analysis locally, while the cloud handles remote access, extra processing and updates. Its VIA-1 model and four AI agents named Insight, Monitor, Investigate and Respond detect people, vehicles, license plates, fire, loitering, tailgating and similar situations, then raise alerts you can search later with multi-attribute filters. VMS+ is the browser and mobile control center for cameras, locations and users. Enterprise security teams also use it to check door-forced and door-held alarms from access control systems before an operator has to look at them. Pricing is an annual license that depends on how many camera feeds you run, how many days of footage are stored and the license term, so you request a quote rather than pick a listed plan.

Use cases

  • Monitor camera feeds automatically
  • Search recorded video by attributes
  • Investigate security incidents faster
  • Verify access control alarms
  • Detect tailgating and restricted-area entry
  • Replace a DVR or NVR system
  • Manage many sites from one console

Who it's for

  • Corporate security teams
  • Facility managers
  • Enterprise IT and operations
  • Retail and campus operators

Why use Lumana

  • Keep your existing IP cameras instead of replacing them, since the platform works with any camera that streams over RTSP or ONVIF.
  • Cut time spent watching feeds, because AI agents flag events and clear routine access control alarms for you.
  • Find footage quickly by describing people, vehicles or objects instead of scrubbing through motion clips.
  • Keep recording and alerting during an internet outage, since the Core device processes video on site.
  • Manage every site from one browser or mobile console with role-based access and audit logs.

How to get started with Lumana

  1. Connect your IP cameras to a Lumana Core device, which records the footage and runs the AI analysis on site.
  2. The Core sends thumbnails and encrypted metadata to the cloud for remote access, extra processing and updates.
  3. Open VMS+ in a browser or the mobile app to view video, manage locations and users, and deploy AI agents.
  4. Set up alerts and zone rules, then use Smart Search and the Investigate agent to review incidents and package evidence.
  5. Request a quote or a free trial through Lumana to scope licenses for your camera count and storage period.

Lumana limitations

  • Cameras need an RTSP or ONVIF stream; 2 MP at 10 FPS is the stated minimum for reliable AI results
  • Pricing depends on camera feeds, storage days and license term, so a quote is required
  • The lifetime hardware warranty applies when the system uses Lumana Core, VMS+ and Lumana cameras
