Open-source LLM observability and AI gateway that logs requests, tracks cost and latency, and routes to 100+ models through one API.
Inngest
Open-source SDK and cloud for durable background jobs, event-driven workflows and AI agents without queue infrastructure.
What is Inngest?
Inngest is an open-source SDK, with a managed cloud, for running event-driven functions that survive failures. You split work into steps, trigger functions from events, and Inngest takes care of retries, sleeping and resuming, fan-out and flow control. A run that fails midway picks up from the failed step instead of starting over, and each run can wait for another event or sleep for as long as a year within the plan's run-length cap. Traces and logs for every step show up in the Inngest dashboard. Code samples in the docs cover TypeScript, Go and Python, and you can start locally before moving to the Cloud. The same model is used for background jobs, long workflows and AI agents, and a newer sandbox product bills compute by the second. Inngest pricing starts with a Free plan at $0/mo, then Pro from $99/mo, Business from $499/mo and custom Enterprise.
Use cases
- Run background jobs with retries
- Orchestrate AI agent workflows
- Fan out work across many functions
- Pause a workflow and resume later
- Wait for an event inside a function
- Control concurrency and rate limits
- Score and evaluate agent runs
Who it's for
Why use Inngest
- Failures resume from the step that failed, so completed work isn't repeated.
- You don't need to run your own queue, scheduler or worker fleet to get retries and delays.
- Step-level traces make it easier to see where a run went wrong.
- The Free plan needs no credit card, so you can test before paying for production.
Inngest features
- Step-based durable functions with automatic retries
- Event triggers and fan-out to multiple functions
- Sleep and wait-for-event steps within a run
- Rate limiting, throttling and concurrency controls
- Per-step traces and logs in the dashboard
- SDKs with TypeScript, Go and Python examples
- Local development before moving to Cloud
- Agent Evals scoring, currently in beta
- Sandboxes billed per second for vCPU and memory
- Datadog and advanced observability add-on
Inngest integrations
How to get started with Inngest
- Install the Inngest SDK for your language and start the local development server.
- Write a function with an event trigger and wrap each unit of work in a step.
- Send events to trigger runs and test retries and sleeps locally.
- Deploy your app and connect it to Inngest Cloud.
- Follow runs, step results and retries in the dashboard and upgrade the plan as usage grows.
Inngest limitations
- Free plan allows 50k executions and 5 concurrent steps
- Free plan keeps 24 hours of trace history
- A function can have at most 1000 steps
- Step timeouts are capped at 2 hours and also limited by your host
- Code must be structured as event-driven steps
