Factory

Software development agents called Droids that plan, code and validate work from a desktop app, CLI or SDK, from $20/month.

What is Factory?

Factory builds Droid, a software development agent that runs through the Factory desktop app, a CLI and an SDK. Droids work on local machines or as background agents in the cloud, and the Plus and Max plans add Factory-managed cloud computers for remote runs. Missions take on scoped software projects: you plan together with Droid, the work is broken into milestones that workers coordinate on and validate, and you approve the plan before anything runs. Custom Automations start sessions on a schedule or from Slack, GitHub or webhook triggers. Factory is model-agnostic: it supports frontier and open-weight models, lets you bring your own keys or locally hosted models in the CLI and app, and offers a Router that picks a model by quality, latency, cost and cache state. Individual plans run $20, $100 and $200 per month, Teams costs $60/month plus $40 per seat, and Business and Enterprise add SSO, audit logging, zero data retention and on-premise or airgapped deployment on custom terms.

Use cases

  • Delegate coding tasks to background agents
  • Plan and run multi-feature software projects
  • Automate issue and bug-report triage
  • Run agents from the terminal or CI
  • Choose and route between AI models
  • Govern coding agents across an organization
  • Review codebase readiness for agents

Who it's for

  • Software developers
  • Engineering teams
  • Platform teams
  • Enterprise IT and security teams

Why use Factory

  • Model choice stays open, so a team can use an approved provider for one repository and a local model for another.
  • Missions put the plan and success criteria up front, instead of leaving a reviewer to infer them from a final patch.
  • Rolling limits and prepaid Extra Usage make spend easier to predict than open-ended metering.
  • Enterprise controls let administrators set hard boundaries on models, tools and network access.
  • Droid runs where the code already lives, including laptops, CI runners, VMs and airgapped networks.

Factory features

  • Droid agent in a desktop app, CLI and SDK
  • Cloud and local background agents
  • Missions with milestones, worker coordination and validation
  • Custom Automations triggered by schedule, Slack, GitHub or webhooks
  • Custom Models with provider keys, compatible endpoints and local models
  • Factory Router that selects models automatically
  • Droid Computers: managed cloud machines for remote runs
  • Agent-readiness dashboard and usage tracking
  • SSO, SAML/SCIM, audit logging and zero data retention on Business and Enterprise
  • On-premise, airgapped and EU deployment patterns for Enterprise

How to get started with Factory

  1. Choose a plan and install the Factory app, the Droid CLI or the SDK.
  2. Connect your repository and choose a model, or bring your own provider keys or a local model.
  3. Give Droid a task, or start a Mission and approve the plan it proposes before work begins.
  4. Let background agents run locally or on a Droid Computer while you monitor usage and progress in the dashboard.
  5. Review the result, then set up Custom Automations to start sessions on a schedule or from Slack, GitHub or webhook events.

Factory limitations

  • Individual plans are governed by rolling 5-hour, 7-day and 30-day rate limits
  • Missions require Extra Usage to be enabled and pause when they hit a rate limit
  • Custom models are not offered in Factory's hosted web or mobile products
  • Managed Droid Computers are included from the Plus plan upward
  • Teams is capped at 10 seats; larger groups need Business or Enterprise
