What is Verda?

Verda is a watermarking and provenance service for AI-generated media. It embeds an imperceptible identifier into images, audio and video at the moment of generation, records the origin in a central registry, and lets anyone check a suspect file to trace it back to its owner, time and method. The marks are meant to survive compression, cropping, re-encoding, screenshots and format changes, and Verda also reads and writes C2PA manifests so the two layers back each other up. It is built for providers who need to meet marking rules such as the EU AI Act Article 50 and California SB 942, and for voice agents, distribution platforms and creators. Developers integrate through a REST API and Python SDK, with cloud-hosted, managed GPU and on-premises options. Cloud pricing is usage-based, with rates shown after sign-in, and verification is described as free.

Use cases

  • Watermark AI-generated images
  • Mark synthetic audio and voice output
  • Embed marks in generated video frames
  • Verify the origin of a suspect file
  • Support EU AI Act and SB 942 compliance
  • Add C2PA manifests to media

Who it's for

  • GenAI providers
  • Voice agent builders
  • Media platforms
  • Developers

Why use Verda

  • Add compliance-oriented marking in a few lines of code rather than a long build project.
  • Marks live inside the media, so they can persist when metadata is stripped on upload.
  • One registry and one identifier cover image, audio and video.
  • Choose cloud, managed GPU or on-premises deployment depending on privacy and performance needs.

Verda features

  • Imperceptible watermarks for image, audio and video
  • Central provenance registry with owner, timestamp and file hash
  • Free verification of any file
  • C2PA manifest reading and writing
  • Marks designed to survive compression, cropping and screenshots
  • REST API and Python SDK
  • Cloud, managed GPU and on-premises deployment tiers
  • Separate models for image (Monet), audio (Bach) and video (Pompeii)

How to get started with Verda

  1. Sign up and get an API key.
  2. Call encode on your image, audio or video file to embed the watermark.
  3. Verda stores a registry record with owner, timestamp, integration and file hash.
  4. Submit any suspect file to extract the mark and see its provenance chain.
  5. Switch between cloud, managed GPU and on-premises tiers by changing one parameter.

Verda limitations

  • Currently covers images, audio and video only; text marking is planned
  • Cloud rates are shown only after signing in
  • The terms say watermarks may not be detectable in all circumstances or by all tools
