Spider

Web crawling and scraping API with cloud browsers and residential proxies, billed per request, for AI agents and data pipelines.

What is Spider?

Spider is a web data API for developers who need to crawl, scrape, search and screenshot pages at scale. A single bearer-token API covers crawling whole sites, fetching single pages as HTML, markdown, text or JSON, searching the web, and extracting structured fields with AI or CSS selectors. Pages that need JavaScript are loaded in a native browser with rotating proxies and retries, and a cloud browser endpoint is compatible with Playwright and Puppeteer over a CDP WebSocket. Results can be streamed as they finish or sent to S3, Google Cloud, Azure Blob, Sheets or Supabase. Spider pricing is pay as you go: $1 per GB of bandwidth plus $0.0001 per minute of compute, failed requests cost nothing, and credits do not expire. There is also a monthly Unlimited concurrency plan from $40/month and AI Studio add-on plans from $6/month for prompt-driven endpoints.

Use cases

  • Crawl sites into markdown for RAG
  • Scrape JavaScript-heavy pages
  • Search the web and scrape results
  • Capture full-page screenshots
  • Extract structured data with AI
  • Route requests through residential proxies
  • Run cloud browser sessions

Who it's for

  • Developers
  • AI engineers
  • Data teams

Why use Spider

  • Billing is two simple line items, bandwidth and compute, with no multiplier for JS rendering and nothing charged for failed requests.
  • Credits do not expire, so you can top up once and use the balance whenever it suits you.
  • One API covers crawling, scraping, search, screenshots and a browser, so you avoid stitching together separate vendors.
  • You can choose per-request billing or buy concurrency for a flat monthly rate when volume is steady.
  • Streaming and connectors let pages flow into storage or your own code as they finish.

Spider features

  • Crawl, scrape, links, search and screenshot endpoints
  • Output as HTML, raw, plain text or markdown
  • API responses in JSON, JSONL, CSV and XML
  • Smart request mode that falls back to JS rendering
  • Cloud browser over CDP, Playwright and Puppeteer compatible
  • Residential proxy mode across 199+ countries
  • Streaming of pages as they finish
  • Data connectors for S3, Google Cloud, Azure Blob, Sheets and Supabase
  • AI Studio endpoints driven by natural-language prompts
  • Follows robots.txt by default

Spider integrations

  • Playwright
  • Puppeteer
  • Google Cloud
  • Azure Blob
  • Google Sheets
  • Supabase

How to get started with Spider

  1. Create a Spider account and generate an API key.
  2. Add credits starting from as little as $1, or choose an Unlimited or AI Studio plan.
  3. Send a POST request to /crawl, /scrape, /search or /screenshot with a Bearer token and the target URL.
  4. Pick a request mode (http, smart or browser) and a return format such as markdown or JSON.
  5. Use the streamed results in your pipeline or have them delivered to your storage.

Spider limitations

  • Default limit of 10,000 core API requests per minute
  • Unlimited plan returns 429 when all concurrency is busy and does not queue
  • Geo-targeting is not available on the Unlimited plan yet
  • AI endpoints need an AI Studio plan plus pay-as-you-go credits
  • Zero data retention bills requests at 2.5x credits
