Moli

Open-source browser engine from Lexmount that lets AI agents extract web content and automate pages with low memory use.

Open source

What is Moli?

Moli is an open-source browser engine from Lexmount built for AI agents that need to read, click through and extract content from web pages without the memory cost of a full desktop browser. It runs dynamic pages and JavaScript, supports finding elements, clicking and typing, and offers storage, security features and automation protocols including CDP and WebDriver Classic and BiDi. Its distinctive design renders a page visually only when an image is requested, and agents can switch images, fonts, audio and video loading on individually. In Lexmount's internal agent workload test, Moli peaked at 102.46 MiB of memory, about 71% below Chromium. You can run the standalone binary locally for free, or use Moli inside Lexmount's managed Cloud Browser, which also offers Chromium. Cloud Browser plans are bought per project: Free is $0, Pro is $12.00 for one month, Pro+ is $60.00 and Enterprise is $180.00.

Use cases

  • Extract content from dynamic web pages
  • Automate clicks and typing for agents
  • Fetch pages as structured data
  • Run agent browsing with low memory
  • Capture screenshots and PDFs on demand
  • Run managed remote browser sessions

Who it's for

  • AI agent developers
  • Automation engineers
  • Data extraction teams
  • Developers

Why use Moli

  • Lower memory use than a standard Chromium session, according to Lexmount's internal test, which leaves room for more parallel agent tasks.
  • Agents see a page's structure and can act on it, and only trigger full rendering when they need an image.
  • You choose between running the engine yourself for free and paying for managed sessions in the cloud.
  • Standard automation protocols mean it can fit into existing CDP or WebDriver tooling.
  • Resource loading controls let an agent skip heavy media it does not need.

Moli features

  • Dynamic page and JavaScript execution
  • Element finding, clicking and typing
  • Fetch, XHR and WebSocket networking
  • Cookies, IndexedDB and OPFS storage
  • On-demand layout, screenshots and PDF
  • CORS, CSP and storage partitioning security
  • CDP and WebDriver Classic / BiDi automation protocols
  • Per-resource switches for images, fonts, audio and video
  • Managed Cloud Browser with a choice of Moli or Chromium

Moli integrations

  • Chromium
  • Playwright

How to get started with Moli

  1. Download the prebuilt Moli binary from the Lexmount GitHub project, or let your agent install it using the published skills.
  2. Use the CLI or connect through CDP or WebDriver to load a page and run its JavaScript.
  3. Find elements, click, type or extract content, and request a screenshot or PDF only when you need one.
  4. Alternatively, create a project at browser.lexmount.com, get an API key and start a managed Cloud Browser session with the Moli engine.
  5. Pick a Free, Pro, Pro+ or Enterprise plan depending on browser hours and concurrency.

Moli limitations

  • Moli renders on demand, so Lexmount advises validating visually demanding pages against your task
  • Chromium extensions and persistent replay are not supported for Moli sessions in Cloud Browser
  • Free Cloud Browser plan includes 10 browser hours a month and 3 concurrent sessions
  • Paid Cloud Browser plans are one-month purchases with no automatic renewal
