prompt-to-asset
MIT-licensed CLI and MCP server that turns one brief into app icons, favicons, OG images and other developer asset bundles.
What is prompt-to-asset?
prompt-to-asset is an npm package for developers who need brand assets for an app but are not designers. You give it one brief, optionally with a brand.json file, and it produces a checked bundle: an iOS AppIconSet with dark and tinted variants, Android adaptive icons, PWA icons and manifest, a multi-resolution favicon, a 1200 by 630 Open Graph image, Flutter launcher icon config, splash screens and a visionOS scaffold. It also covers logos, illustrations, hero banners and transparent marks. It runs as a command-line tool called p2a and as an MCP server, so Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, Codex, Gemini CLI, Cline and VS Code can call it. The tool picks a route across image models and has three modes, including a zero-key inline SVG mode and a mode that only writes a prompt you paste into a subscription you already have. The package is free under the MIT license; npm itself has no charge for installing it.
Use cases
- Generate an iOS app icon set
- Create a favicon bundle for a site
- Make Open Graph and Twitter share images
- Export Android adaptive and PWA icons
- Produce logos and transparent marks
- Scaffold splash screens for mobile apps
Who it's for
Why use prompt-to-asset
- One command produces every size and format an app store, browser and share card expects.
- The zero-key SVG mode means you can try it without creating accounts or paying for an API.
- API keys stay in environment variables, and provider errors are filtered to remove key patterns.
- Registering as an MCP server lets your coding assistant request assets in chat.
- It can also resize an existing master PNG into all platform outputs.
