What is GitGuardian?

GitGuardian is a secrets and non-human identity security platform for engineering and security teams. Its monitoring scans Git repositories on GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket and Azure DevOps, and on higher plans CI/CD pipelines, container registries, developer machines and collaboration tools such as Jira, Slack and Confluence, plus public GitHub for leaks outside the company. Over 550 detectors check candidates against the issuing provider, and AI risk scoring, severity rules and filters rank what is exploitable. Incidents are assigned with remediation playbooks, notifications to Slack, Teams, Jira or ServiceNow, and webhooks. To stop leaks early, the ggshield CLI, pre-commit hooks, a VS Code extension and hooks for AI coding tools such as Cursor, Claude Code and GitHub Copilot run at the developer's side. NHI governance inventories machine identities across vaults and cloud IAM. A Free (Starter) plan covers up to 25 developers at $0, while Growth and Enterprise are quoted by sales, with a 30-day free trial of paid features and self-hosted deployment on Enterprise.
