What is ChatWithCloud?

ChatWithCloud is a CLI that lets you ask about your AWS account in everyday language, such as which S3 buckets are public or why a bill went up. An AI model writes AWS SDK code for the question, the code runs on your own machine with the AWS profile you choose, and the model turns the output into a plain answer. It covers cost reviews, security checks, troubleshooting and changes to resources, for any service the AWS SDK for JavaScript supports. Your AWS credentials never leave your computer. You start with npx, Homebrew, pnpm or Bun, and after a global install it is available as chatwithcloud or cwc. The first 15 runs are free, with no card. After that the Monthly plan is $19 a month, the Yearly plan is $190 a year, and a Lifetime license is $399 one time with your own OpenAI key.

Use cases

  • Review AWS costs in plain English
  • Find public S3 buckets and security gaps
  • Troubleshoot broken AWS resources
  • Clean up idle instances and unused IPs
  • List and count resources across services
  • Debug IAM access denied errors

Who it's for

  • DevOps engineers
  • Cloud engineers
  • Developers
  • Startup founders

Why use ChatWithCloud

  • You skip memorizing AWS CLI syntax and console navigation for routine checks.
  • Credentials stay local, since the CLI signs AWS requests on your own machine.
  • Flat pricing options include a one-time lifetime license for people who dislike subscriptions.
  • The 15 free runs need no card, so you can try it on a real account.
  • A read-only profile limits it to answers if you do not want it to change anything.

ChatWithCloud features

  • Asks and answers AWS questions in plain English from the terminal
  • Generates and runs AWS SDK code on your own machine
  • Works with named profiles, SSO and MFA role assumption
  • Covers EC2, S3, IAM, Lambda, RDS, CloudWatch and Cost Explorer
  • Follow-up questions keep context within a session
  • Experience-level setting tunes answers for beginners or pros
  • Your own key, with a choice of GPT-4 Turbo, GPT-4, GPT-4o or GPT-4o Mini
  • Read-only mode by choosing a read-only AWS profile
  • Session history saved locally as JSON files

ChatWithCloud integrations

  • AWS
  • OpenAI
  • Homebrew
  • Lemon Squeezy

How to get started with ChatWithCloud

  1. Run npx chatwithcloud, or install it with Homebrew, pnpm or Bun.
  2. Answer the first-run questions about experience level, model, OpenAI key and analytics.
  3. Pick an AWS profile from your ~/.aws files and type a question in plain English.
  4. The model writes SDK code, your machine runs it against AWS, and the result goes back as JSON.
  5. Read the explanation, ask follow-ups, and enter a license key when the free runs end.

ChatWithCloud limitations

  • It can create, change and delete resources and runs generated code without asking first
  • Whatever permissions the chosen AWS profile has, the tool has
  • Settings, license key and OpenAI key are stored in plain text in ~/.chatwithcloud/aws.json
  • AWS still bills for API calls, for example $0.01 per Cost Explorer request
  • The Lifetime license needs your own OpenAI key, and OpenAI bills model usage separately
