What is Lakera Guard?

Lakera Guard is a security layer for generative AI applications and agents, now documented under the Check Point name as AI Guardrails. Your application or AI gateway sends each user input, tool call or model output to the Guard API, which checks it against a policy and flags threats such as prompt injection, jailbreaks, leakage of sensitive data and PII, offensive content, links outside an allowed domain list and agent actions outside their mandate. Projects let you give each app its own policy and choose whether detections block traffic or are only logged, and a web dashboard shows analytics, request logs, policies and a playground. It works with any hosted or open-source model and detects threats in more than 100 languages. The Community plan costs $0 per month with 10k requests, while Enterprise is quoted through sales and adds SSO, RBAC, SIEM integration and self-hosting.

Use cases

  • Block prompt injection in an LLM app
  • Prevent PII leaking from model responses
  • Screen tool calls made by AI agents
  • Restrict which tools an agent may use
  • Monitor threats in a security dashboard
  • Filter offensive content in chatbot output

Who it's for

  • Security teams
  • AI engineers
  • Enterprise IT teams
  • Application developers

Why use Lakera Guard

  • A single API call per interaction adds screening without rebuilding your application.
  • A free Community tier lets you test detection on a real app before talking to sales.
  • Project modes let you start by logging detections and move to blocking when you trust the policy.
  • Coverage of tool calls and tool descriptions addresses agent and MCP risks, not just chat prompts.
  • Self-hosting and EU or US data residency are available for regulated teams on Enterprise.
